How To Treat O Knock To The Knee

Raise your eyes and look upwards

My dear friends Don Bosco
wrote in 1847 a manual of prayer for his boys of the Oratory. The title "The young educated" and was a constant reference in the life and future Valdocco Salesian Congregation for generations. It was not just a manual, but also contained a proposal spiritual where our father expressed his understanding of Christian life for young people.
In the prologue, Don Bosco wrote:

"Dear friends, I love you with all my heart and that you are young enough for me to wish you a lot (...) Raise your eyes, my children and look towards the top ...."

is neither more nor less, than a proposal youthful holiness. A very spiritual way in connection with the lives of boys, most of every day, very close to everyday reality. Don Bosco did not require large "practices of piety" to the boys of the Oratory, but always taught to make the ordinary something extraordinary "was a proposal inviting look up to fix our eyes on God .
"Lift upward gaze is realizing that God's presence permeates daily life by giving a new meaning and different. You look up land, per square meter that sometimes overwhelms us so much, that which does not let us live in peace and robs us of peace of heart, what disturbs us or not let us be truly free. is, above all, experience the closeness of God who loves us and we always said that achieving full horizon.
For Don Bosco, spirituality is easy to everyday experience God's closeness , in his merciful goodness, their concern for us.
Is not that what you taught Margarita Mama Becchi ? When you sit at the front door on the nights of summer, with John just a child, inviting him to look upward, to gaze at the sky to help you understand that God is a good father who in his infinite goodness lit the stars every night for us. That humble peasant
grew convinced that "a piece of paradise fixes everything." There was always a star to watch, to admire the sky, a thank you whisper in the silence of the night because God is always worried about his boys and never left. was sure, however strong the winds blow, unshakable confidence in God lit always so new reality.
was precisely this "providential love" of God experiment many times in your life, that Don Bosco wanted to convey to their kids. In "The young educated" in their spirituality, the primacy is always God and love of the Father .
always points to what is important. In our own experience of faith, in our proposal for faith development for our youth, we never lose sight of where it is essential: Salesian youth spirituality is a simple way to sainthood in which we learn, from life daily, to always look upward, to raise their eyes towards God. And there's a thank heaven for that every night, so providence.

Your friend, Jose Miguel Núñez
